  • Mix in order given with a mixer. Chill dough 2-3 hours. Mix approximately 1/2 cup white sugar with a few drops of red food coloring, less for a light pink more for a darker color.
  • Sprinkle flour on surface and roll out dough quite thin, then embed the sugar onto the dough, spreading all over and rolling over it slightly. Use a 2 1/2 inch heart shaped cookie cutter and place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 325 for 15 minutes.
  • Cool.
  • You can leave them like this OR --
  • If you roll them out thin enough, put a small amount of red jelly in between and sandwich the cookies.

My favorite cookbook (I have many) are the ones compiled by community organizations or churches, they are the tried and true ones. I also have some of the Company Coming too. Love to spend time with my family and friends, travelling, camping, reading, scrapbooking, baking, biking. We've just acquired a new member in our family, Katie a Yorkshire Terrier who we are enjoying very much.
